Recording Jasper Dommett’s new Chamber opera
- Coram Boy -
April 2021
Stefano Boccacci will conduct the première of the brand new opera inspired by Jamila Gavin’s book: Coram Boy.
“Do you see colour, when you hear different notes?” Set in misty eighteenth-century Gloucestershire, Jasper Dommett’s new one-act opera explores the chance meeting of a cathedral chorister and a mysterious boy with a merciless past. Directed by Fleur Snow, Coram Boy is based on Helen Edmundson’s theatrical adaptation of Jamila Gavin’s highly acclaimed novel. The opera is scored for an intimate ensemble, weaving in electronic soundscapes and echoes of Handel’s angelic cathedral organ. It will be sung by alumni of the David Seligman Opera School.
